Learn Dutch as a second language

If you are interested in learning Dutch as a second language we have the following programs:

  • Dutch for children (up to 18 years old)

We have this program as Online private classes right now. If there is enough interest we could either start online group lessons OR group lessons at one of our school in North Hollywood, Orange County of San Diego.

Lessons
For students who have not had much exposure to the Dutch language. The educational goal for these students is to achieve good verbal skills and to be able to communicate with their Dutch or Flemish family, or to follow further education in the Netherlands or Belgium.

The lessons are focused on achieving good verbal language skills using different themes and situations, enrichment of the vocabulary, the correct pronunciation, grammar and conversational skills are taught.

Age
We can offer lessons for children from 4 to 5 years old up to 18 years old.

Tuition methods
We have a great tuition method that we use as well as various different educational media that aim to make the class as interactive as possible. The method exists of an online program which allows students to continue working on their Dutch after their class.

CNaVT
As of 15 years old, students can obtain a Certificate for Dutch as a Foreign Language (Certificaat Nederlands als Vreemde Taal, CNaVT). The CNaVT has various profiles. The students follow the profile best suited to them.
The Dutch School of SoCal will become an official site for administering the Certificate this year. Exams take place in May every year.

With a higher level of the CNaVT students 14+ may qualify for:
- The Seal of Biliteracy (B1)
- Credits for college (B1)
- Acceptance at Dutch institutions for higher education (B2)
